Trash and waste refuse is a common occurrence in everyday life. Whether you are cleaning up your own home, renovating a rental property, or replacing your home's roof, you will likely end up with yards of waste that you will need to put into the local landfill. Fortunately, a local disposal company can rent you a dumpster to make the disposal process easy, as they deliver and pick up the dumpster and empty it at the local dump. Here are some recommendations to help you as you plan out a dumpster rental of your yard clean-up or demolition project.

Select a Type of Dumpster

There are several types and sizes of dumpsters that you can use for your clean-up project for nearly any type of waste refuse. Depending on how much waste you are going to create in your project, whether it is a demolition project or cleaning out a junk pile in your yard, look to rent a dumpster that is going to work best for your needs and to make your clean-up project easier.

For example, you can rent a dumpster that has a side access door, which gives you the ability to walk in and out of the dumpster. This is helpful when you have large pieces of waste that you cannot toss into the dumpster. Or if you are doing a roof replacement, a top-loading dumpster with high sides is the perfect option, as you will be dumping waste into it from high on the roof.

Depending on the waste disposal company you will rent your dumpster from, you can also ask about a trash compactor dumpster. This type of dumpster will compact and minimize a large amount of waste bulk. So, for example, if you are disposing of a large amount of bagged trash from inside a hoarder house, a compactor will help you conserve the space of your trash haul.

Plan for Delivery Position

The site you choose to place your dumpster rental needs to fulfill several requirements for dropping off, using, and picking up the dumpster. Contact your dumpster rental specialist about requirements for the truck to deliver the dumpster, such as if they need enough room to make a three-point turn, or if they need clearance on one or more sides of the delivery location.

You usually don't want to place the dumpster on the road without getting prior authorization from your local city. Make sure you choose a spot that is level and free of large rocks, trees, or other vegetation that will get in the way of its delivery. Also make sure the dumpster is not going to be in the way of any heavy equipment during your project, such as a cement truck.
